OBIANO'S WIFE CALLS FOR UNITY AMONG NDI-IGBO



Wife of Anambra state governor, Chief Ebelechukwu Obiano has stressed the need for unity among Igbos.. Chief (Mrs) Ebelechukwu Obiana stated this when she took her Women Empowerment Program to Neni in Anaocha LGA.
The Governor's wife identified unity as the cement that will bind Igbos together and enable them to appreciate each other’s strength which can be used to make giant developmental strides.Identifying women as the agents of change, she urged them to live up to their responsibility of building good homes and virile society.


































       Chief (Mrs) Obiano reaffirmed the government's commitment to empowering women economically so as to enhance standard of living of their families and gave the assurance that her pet project, 'Caring Family Enhancement Initistive' CAFE will provide garri processing machines, palm oil processing plants, kernel cracking machines and sewing machines to women in the ten communities that make up the council.

     Earlier the Commissioner for Women Affairs Dr Victoria Chikelu said that her ministry plans to use the Obiano’s wife Empowerment Program to alleviate the suffering of women in the state and requested women to identify the physically challenged amongst them to enable them benefit from government's empowerment program for the less privileged.
Bags of rice and fertilizer were distributed to indigent women especially the widows while the children got exercise books, noodles, school bags and monetary gifts.

     Speaking earlier, wife of the council chairman, Mrs Chioma Ejiofor announced that 530 less privileged and physically challenged persons in the LGA have been selected to benefit from the Obiano’s Empowerment program.












    Mrs Ejiofor said that the women selected from the various communities represent those that want to work but lack the wherewithal to do so and gave the assurance that the provided resources will be put to good use.

    The legislator representing Anaocha 1 in the Anambra House of Assembly, Mr Ebele Ejiofor described the programme as worthwhile, identifying it as a pivot of the APGA administration.

     He thanked the wife of the governor for complimenting other empowerment programs for women in the council area, requesting her not to relent in her efforts to ensure good life for people of his constituency and Anambra state at large.




     A philanthropist in the community, Chief Jim Okonkwo commended the continuity programs of the present administration and supported the empowerment program with the sum of one million naira (#1, 000, 000).

     Chief Okonkwo urged other well placed people of the state to partner with the present administration to ensure that the state develops fast.
The event was attended by state legislators, President-generals of community unions and various women groups including members of Nigerian Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ.
